Hallmark for LIFE 2006 Turnover
This video is simple, but touching...
Kath of Hallmark Philippines made this video. Yup, it's not me who made this, but im adding it here anyway, I told her about it :) I was really touched with this video, actually, it's more of a photo slideshow made into a simple music video. I got this video during the Leukemic Indigents Fund Endowment (LIFE) turnover of funds from Hallmark to LIFE.
Hallmark was able to give almost half a million pesos for LIFE this year - which is the largest in 7 years, according to Hallmark Philippines President Maximo Licauco.
Some people from the Sales Dept of Hallmark told me my Christmas Card design had many orders last Yuletide season. It's an honor really to help for this cause. :)

More than a decade of saving lives
Leukemia is the most common of all childhood cancers. Despite available treatment, it remains the fifth killer disease in the country.
The long and costly treatment for leukemia patients, especially those from poor families, puts a heavy burden not just on the family savings but also on their emotions.
Leukemia is the most common of all childhood cancers. Despite available treatment, it remains the fifth killer disease in the country according to the Department of Health’s (DOH) 2005 Health Advisory. Poverty largely plays culprit to the high mortality incidence.
The late Dr. Alendry Caviles Jr. saw the woeful plight of indigent children diagnosed with leukemia. In 1995, together with volunteer doctors, cured leukemics, their friends and families, he formed the Leukemic Indigents Fund Endowment (l.i.f.e). The non-stock, non-profit foundation oversees the sustained medical treatment of patients under its care and also provides them the optimum moral and spiritual support towards their full recovery.
Through continuous support from friends and donors, the foundation is able to implement its mission. Hallmark for l.i.f.e, a tie-up between l.i.f.e. and Filstar Distributors Corporation, the country’s licensee of the classic Hallmark greeting cards, is one of the successful projects initiated for this cause.
The Hallmark for l.i.f.e. Christmas cards are special not only because these are produced to benefit impoverished patients but also because the covers feature artwork by Filipino artists who have generously lent their talent for the project. Their masterpieces portray the gaiety and solemnity the Yuletide season brings.
Past artists for this annual fundraising effort include former President Corazon Aquino; painter, sculptor, book illustrator Manuel Baldemor; renowned artist Mario Malang Santos; photographer Harold Tapan; and famed painters Jose "Pitok" Bianco and Orville Tiamson.
For its 11th year, the 2006 collection showcases the labor of love of 11 artists: Jovito Andres, Remy Boquiren, Rolan Lalantacon, Dr. Dan Lerma, Ambhet Lugtu, Jes Peliño, Nani Reyes, Bing Reyes, Rianne Hill Soriano, Platon Varquez, and Mamert Ronan Yñigo, in depicting various Christmas scenes in the Philippine setting.
The Christmas season highlights the celebration of life and gift-giving. Hallmark for l.i.f.e., for 11 years already, continues to live up to this message through its greeting cards that not only captures the wonderful sights and colors of the season but also conveys its meaning by giving leukemic children a second chance at life.

My Experience as a Hallmark for L. I. F. E. Artist
This is my first blog entry here. And it's nice to start off with something really worthwhile. The contract signing of Hallmark for L. I. F. E. artists for 2006 last Aug. 16, 2006 was a really great experience... I never thought that contributing my artwork for this endeavor could really make me this fulfilled as an artist. It makes me inspired really, especially the artwork I contributed includes two of my main characters from my short film "Aninag." May Hallmark for L. I. F. E.'s mission and vision be realized in every year that it gives life to the leukemic children who benefit from this wonderful project. This is the article about the project from Hallmark's website: http://www.filstar.com.ph/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=6&Itemid=2 Hallmark for L.I.F.E. It is a sad reality that more and more children are being diagnosed with leukemia. It is a depressing reality that the parents of most of these children cannot afford the medication to cure cancer. It is a tragedy if we do not do anything about it. For eleven years now, Filstar Distributors Corporation, licensee of Hallmark Cards in the Philippines, and the Leukemic Indigents Fund Endowment (L.I.F.E.), a charitable organization headed by the late Dr. Alendry Caviles, have been working hand-in-hand to lighten the burden of Filipino families experiencing the double tribulation of disease & poverty and to raise awareness on the alarming rate of young leukemic indigents in the country through the project, Hallmark for l.i.f.e. This Christmas, be that hope to l.i.f.e.
Hallmark for l.i.f.e. 2006 Collection presents a whole new range of designs from Hallmark Holiday Classics and noted Filipino artists namely: Jovito Andres, Remy Boquiren, Rolan Lalantacon, Dr. Dan Lerma, Norberto "Ambhet" Lugto, Jes Pelino, Nani Reyes, Vincent Reyes, Rianne Soriano, Platon Varquez and Mamert Ynigo.
